Fear and sadness can be crippling, hindering you from the things you love and enjoy. Identify what causes you to be fearful and sad. Prolonged extreme sadness may develop into depression. Living in fear will limit the meaningful things you can enjoy and the relationships you can form.
Seek help before it escalates, and speak to a trusted friend. You may find it isn't as fearful or scary as you thought.
I find watching the news or reading the newspapers makes me really fearful and sad due to all the evil that is happening in the world. I also avoid watching scary and sad films, which is avoidance but necessary for my mental state.
Avoidance is a symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), something I live with, but it is also a coping mechanism for someone living with anxiety disorder.
To live a happy and productive life, you must find what works for you. Eliminate anything that causes you pain and unhappiness. I haven't seen a scary movie in years, and honestly, I don't feel I am missing much. But avoiding scary movies means fewer triggers for nightmares or fear and restful sleep.
