I see the world through a unique lens, as you do, too. Our distinct views lead to diverse perspectives, beliefs, and interpretations. My intersectionalities shape how I perceive the world:
Born to an African mother and an English father
Female/Woman
Born in Wales
Biracial heritage
Black
Embodying African culture
Child of divorced parents
Raised by a single mother
Grew up in poverty
Grew up in a civil war
Navigating a traumatic childhood
Living with PTSD
Teenage mother
Single mother
Mother of twins
Mother of black children
Divorced
Married
Educated
Christian
47 years old
Heterosexual
Customer Service Supervisor
Working class
Single income
English language (Just about 😂)
Acknowledging my intersectionalities helps shape my understanding of the world and reminds me that every perspective, though different, is valid and worthy of respect.

Each person is a unique tapestry woven from diverse thoughts, skills, experiences, and stories. It's natural to desire shared beliefs and perspectives, but it's important to recognise that the world is made up of individuals who have their own rich narratives. Understanding this can help foster compassion and patience in our interactions with others.
Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression, and we must consider everything and anything that can marginalise people – gender, race, class, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.

An intersectional lens isn't a physical item but a concept or framework that aims to explain why every person sees the world in a unique way. It's the compilation of all the influences and unique experiences in our lives that come together to shape our worldview.
