I Am Beautifully Different

I see the world through a unique lens, as you do, too. Our distinct views lead to diverse perspectives, beliefs, and interpretations. My intersectionalities shape how I perceive the world:

  1. Born to an African mother and an English father

  2. Female/Woman

  3. Born in Wales

  4. Biracial heritage

  5. Black

  6. Embodying African culture

  7. Child of divorced parents

  8. Raised by a single mother

  9. Grew up in poverty

  10. Grew up in a civil war

  11. Navigating a traumatic childhood

  12. Living with PTSD

  13. Teenage mother

  14. Single mother

  15. Mother of twins

  16. Mother of black children

  17. Divorced

  18. Married

  19. Educated

  20. Christian

  21. 47 years old

  22. Heterosexual

  23. Customer Service Supervisor

  24. Working class

  25. Single income

  26. English language (Just about 😂)

Acknowledging my intersectionalities helps shape my understanding of the world and reminds me that every perspective, though different, is valid and worthy of respect.

I embody various dimensions of different aspects.
I embody various dimensions of different aspects.

Each person is a unique tapestry woven from diverse thoughts, skills, experiences, and stories. It's natural to desire shared beliefs and perspectives, but it's important to recognise that the world is made up of individuals who have their own rich narratives. Understanding this can help foster compassion and patience in our interactions with others.

Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression, and we must consider everything and anything that can marginalise people – gender, race, class, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.

An intersectional lens isn't a physical item but a concept or framework that aims to explain why every person sees the world in a unique way. It's the compilation of all the influences and unique experiences in our lives that come together to shape our worldview.
