Do you see yourself anywhere in the diagram?
Many of us are not aware that our behaviours and responses may be a result of traumatic experiences we have had, whether during birth, infancy, childhood, or as adults. Additionally, trauma can be passed from a mother to an unborn child. We often attribute our behaviours and responses to genetics rather than to the impact of our experiences. I've heard people say, "She is aggressive," without considering that something may have happened to make her that way. Viewing others through a trauma-informed lens can help us have more empathy and compassion.
